Description

This Classic Southern Blackberry Lemonade pairs bold, jammy blackberries with freshly squeezed lemon juice for a deep purple, sweet-tart drink straight from the heart of Southern summer. You simmer blackberries into a rich syrup that gives this lemonade its stunning color and intense flavor.


Ingredients

1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries

1 cup fresh lemon juice

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup water for syrup

3 cups cold water

1 cup ice

Fresh blackberries and lemon slices for garnish


Instructions

1. Combine blackberries, sugar, and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat

2. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring and mashing berries until syrup forms

3. Strain blackberry syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher

4. Add lemon juice and cold water and stir well

5. Add ice, garnish with fresh blackberries and lemon slices, and serve

Notes

Use fresh blackberries at peak season for the richest flavor
