Description
Icy Frozen Brazilian Lemonade takes the creamy street-drink classic and turns it into a thick, slushy frozen treat that beats any summer heat. You blend whole limes with sweetened condensed milk and a generous heap of ice until the mixture turns smooth, frosty, and spoonable-thick. The result is a cross between a lemonade and a frozen dessert — bright, tangy, creamy, and impossibly refreshing from the very first sip.
Ingredients
4 small Persian limes, quartered (unpeeled)
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1½ cups cold water
4 cups ice cubes
Pinch of salt
Whipped cream and lime zest for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Wash the limes thoroughly under cold running water, scrubbing the skin clean of any wax or residue.
2. Cut each lime into 4 to 6 wedges, leaving the peel fully intact.
3. Add the lime wedges, sweetened condensed milk, cold water, ice cubes, and a pinch of salt to a high-powered blender.
4. Blend on high speed for exactly 5 seconds — just enough to crush the ice and emulsify the mixture without over-extracting bitterness from the peel.
5. Set a fine-mesh strainer over a large pitcher and pour the blended mixture through it immediately, pressing firmly to push the slushy liquid through.
6. Discard the lime solids left in the strainer.
7. Stir the frozen mixture briefly — it should have a thick, slushy consistency.
8. Pour into chilled glasses, top with whipped cream and a pinch of lime zest if desired, and serve immediately with a wide straw or spoon.
Notes
Use a high-powered blender — a weak blender will struggle to crush the ice evenly and may leave chunky bits.
Blend for no more than 5 seconds to keep the drink creamy and prevent bitterness from the peel.
For an even thicker slush, freeze the water into ice cubes made from water and condensed milk the night before.
Serve immediately — the frozen texture melts quickly, especially in warm weather.
For a boozy frozen version, add 2 oz of cachaça or vodka per serving before blending.
If the mixture is too thick after straining, stir in a splash of cold water to loosen it to your preferred consistency.
Do not store — this drink is best consumed fresh and loses its frozen texture within minutes.
